We provide children with two bilingual immersion streams: Cantonese/English (CE) and Putonghua/English (PE).
Each stream is jointly led by a native English teacher and a native Chinese teacher. This cooperative teacher arrangement ensures an authentically immersive bilingual experience that encourages your child’s linguistic development in a caring and balanced environment, preparing them well for both local schools and international schools.
English Phonics and Chinese Pinyin
English Phonics and Chinese Pinyin are essential elements for robust English and Chinese language development. We integrate these elements into our curriculum so that children can read with confidence at an earlier age. We believe that a strong emphasis on these two phonetic teachings will accelerate children’s reading confidence and overall language development. English phonics is therefore taught in both streams (CE and PE), while Chinese Pinyin is also added to our PE stream.
To realize our child-centred philosophy, our CDT has developed an engaging and effective curriculum that uses children’s actual school-life experiences as illustrations. This enhances children’s sense of belonging to, and ownership of, their learning journey. As they experience our curriculum through imaginative teaching aids, books and take-home surprises, they enjoy learning in a meaningful and developmentally appropriate way.
Social Emotional Learning
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is important in early childhood. It is the process of learning how to understand and manage emotions, build positive relationships and make responsible decisions. There are five core competencies in SEL.
To recognize one’s own emotions and thoughts
To regulate one’s emotions, thoughts and behaviours in different situations
To understand how others are feeling and to take the perspective of others
To build healthy relationships with others through effective communication, active listening and cooperation
To identify problems and think of solutions to resolve conflicts
